The Eastern Woodlands Pack

Join the pack

"FOR THE STRENGTH OF THE WOLF IS THE PACK, AND THE STRENGTH OF THE PACK IS THE WOLF."

-RUDYARD KIPLING

tHE PACK

The Eastern Woodlands Pack was the very first pack established in Clifton Forge. We believe that the strength of the wolf is the entire pack, and that every single individual is important to the greater whole. Strength for the pack comes in a number of ways, least of which is in brawn and muscle (despite the fact that we are very much monsters). However, in the delicate social climate of Clifton Forge, we rely on our ability to forge alliances, act politically and with intrigue, as well as in the best interest of our packmates. Of course, when required, we will also act viciously against our enemies, and will fight to ensure the sanctity of the veil. All wolves who join us are expected to act with integrity, loyalty, and respect -- not just to those they know and care for, but for every single individual they have pledged themselves to, no matter path or rank.

The pack is, at its core, a family unit: fierce, loyal, protective. The members of the pack always know that they will have a home, and people to catch them if they fall. They take care of and fight for each other, and always have one another's backs. While each and every member has their own interests and callings in life, they also have a job within the pack; a purpose and a way to contribute to the well being of the group. The Alphas of the pack are equipped and knowledgeable enough to deal with troubled wolves, those that have problems with control as well as those that have problems fitting in elsewhere, and thus end up taking in a lot of misfits, outcasts, and formerly lone wolves. They do their best to provide a home, a family, and most importantly stability to those that need it most.

pack ranks

Because werewolves are not solitary creatures by nature, the highest ranking positions in the pack will sometimes be shared by mates. These pairs will be of equal rank, and given the respect they deserve regardless of gender, orientation or origin.

Alpha(s) - Alphas are highest ranking members of the wolf pack as they hold control over their pack members. The Alpha pair is responsible for leading the pack on hunts, protecting and overseeing pack territory, accepting strangers into the pack as well as driving errant wolves out of the pack. The Alphas keep the pack in order and in control and will take any measure to see that the pack remains undisturbed and unharmed. They tell the pack what to do, where to go, and how to work without questions from their members. Keeping things at a strict basis is their way of showing their care and concern for the pack-mates. Alphas should be shown the utmost respect and are in the position to punish those who do not show it. Disobeying an Alphas order will have consequences.

Beta(s) - These are the second highest ranking members of the pack. They are in charge when the Alpha(s) is/are unavailable, and are responsible for maintaining control and organization over the pack in the Alphas absence. These wolves are the most trusted advisors to the Alphas and may be consulted when dealing with more sensitive issues.

Delta(s) - These members are just below the Betas in rank, and if neither the Alphas or Betas or available they are in charge. They are also very trusted advisors to the Alphas, and lead the Scout and Warden tracks. These wolves usually take control of training the younger wolves in their appropriate specialties.

Gammas - These members are your average pack members, and are distributed in different roles in the pack based on their skill set or if trained specifically for a role. Gamma roles are listed as the following:

Vanguards- The most skilled and trusted of the Wardens and Scouts. These wolves serve as the Delta's right hand.

Wardens - Protectors, peacekeepers, and enforcers; these pack members are tasked with making sure everyone is safe, the territory is protected, and that the rules are followed.

Scouts - These pack members are trackers and information gatherers. They go out on their assignments given by higher ranking members of the pack and report back with information to the council with their findings.

Healers - Pack members gifted in the healing arts, whether they use herbs and homeopathic remedies, formal medical training or their given gifts. These members are the ones that heal the wounded and take care of those in need.

Keepers - A Keeper is tasked with the essential duties of maintaining, supplying, and tending to the pack's den. They are also responsible for guiding and training new wolves in the basics of pack life, as well as assisting in rearing any of the pack's pups. They are the guardians of pack knowledge and anything that is considered valuable to the pack. Those who take up this path are often selfless individuals with a strong instinct to guide and protect those under their care. Because they often exhibit a calmer exterior they are also frequently looked to in times of inner-pack conflict and strife, and assist in the problem solving of minor incidents among pack members.

Recruits - : New members that have not yet been trained in or chose their role.

Omega - Omegas are rare type of werewolf who is submissive to all others, but is as important to a pack as an Alpha. This is because, unlike other wolves who are constantly trying to find their place in the pecking order, when Omega’s are around their packmates, their very presence -- attributed to their un-ending submission -- can at times be calming to those around them. This is especially helpful when another wolf is experiencing heightened rage or other emotions. This is not an extra ability or power they possess, it is innate as it is part of their naturally calming presence.

Because of their importance to the pack structure, most wolves do not consider Omegas to be weak or less-than. In fact, most wolves maintain respect for this type of wolf. Because they are submissive with a calm demeanor, an omega will always submit to another wolf

The council

The Council is composed of the Alphas, Betas, Deltas. The role of the council is to discuss and decide the course of action in any given situation, deal with problem members as well as mediate when two or more members have serious issues causing conflict in the pack or bringing the pack danger. All orders given by council members are to be respected and obeyed, or there is a risk of disciplinary action. Any decisions that the council makes as a whole are final and are expected to be honored by the pack.

pack bylaws

  1. The Pack comes first. The pack should be the number one priority to every wolf within it. Without a pack, the wolf is nothing. This means that information shared within the pack should stay within the pack, and that pack members should never betray or turn their backs on one another.
  2. Alpha’s word is law. The Alpha’s job is to preserve and protect the pack. They are tasked with deciding what is best for the pack and its members as a whole. If the Alpha gives an order, it is to be obeyed. Disobeying an order from an alpha will have consequences.
  3. Maintain the veil at all costs. Secrecy and human ignorance is the primary way of protecting the pack. The less people who know about the pack, or werewolves in general, the safer the pack will be. This means no public conversations, phone calls, or ever text messages about all things werewolf. Breaking the veil may result in punishment as decided by the alpha for both the offender and the witness.
  4. Never hunt humans unless they are a direct threat to the pack. Humans are not to be hunted unless they are a direct threat to the pack. They are easy prey and it is rumoured that the minds of those who consume human flesh begins to warp.
  5. Respect and protect your family. Each pack member is considered family and everyone is to be treated with respect as a baseline, while still keeping in mind the rank of each member. Above all else, protect one another in the face of a threat despite any misgivings or disagreements, past or present.
  6. Respect the territory of another. When visiting the territory of another pack, it is customary to introduce yourself to the presiding alpha as well as stating intentions while visiting their territory. Not doing so may result in being hunted by the territories pack.
  7. Do not hide information from your Alphas. It is the Alpha’s job to know all the comings and goings of the pack. While they can not be everywhere to keep an eye on everything going, they rely on the members of their pack to stay vigilant and relay any pertinent information as far as general town happenings, other races plans, rumors, or otherwise. The Alphas, in turn, will make sure that all important information is relayed to the other members of the pack.

businesses and hangouts

The Cave - This is a safe space used as a gathering point when pack meetings are called. This will generally be where decisions are made or where information is being relayed amongst pack members. This is also used at the meeting point for full moon gatherings.

Savage Ink - This business is run by one of the pack Alpha’s and employs pack members. There are no cameras or microphones, and so long as there are no clients present, it is considered a safe and private space where conversations about wolves or the pack could be had freely, as well as a hangout spot. Messages can also be relayed through this location by leaving messages with the NPC wolf counter staff, Jake.

Alpha’s house - Given that the pack is run as a family unit, the Alpha's house is a relatively common hangout. Often times there are previously homeless wolves staying there, and pack members frequently come and go freely to visit or hang out with the pack. There will always be a place here for pack members to stay should they need it. This place is safe and should be considered a second home to all wolves of the pack.

pack perks

Pack Magic - Werewolves belonging to a pack have the ability to pull power from their pack, as well as to give power to other pack members in need. The most common use for this is in healing, but may also be used for strength, speed, or various other abilities. The members of the pack who are lending their energy must be in the same vicinity as the person who is trying to use it (at least 10m).

GPS - The bond that joining a pack forms is unique, and has its perks. One of which is the ability to sense in what general area a pack member is in while looking for them (within a mile radius), or sensing that they are in danger or in pain. This perk can also be used to find lost pack members or to help a lost member find their way back to their pack.

Pack Communication - Communicating within a pack is vital, and the bond that a pack shares manifests itself in the ability to communicate with one another with telepathy while shifted. All wolves participating must be shifted. A non shifted wolf may attempt to get a message out when in an emergency situation, but it is likely that the message will not be clear, similar to trying to talk through static on a radio.

Ic and ooc drama

We all know drama is great for role-play as long as it's the IC type (IE: sexual perversions, drug addictions, mental problems, etc.) We are all for story line advancement, but OOC drama will not be tolerated. If problems arise between members which cannot be resolved there will be a vote and someone will be removed, end of story.

In short, keep all drama in character! If a situation arises between members, or even leadership, bring it to the attention of someone in the Council so it can be handled and dealt with before it becomes a serious problem.
